Dr. Mitchell has diverse clinical experience in lymphedema and oncology rehabilitation, Pilates and aquatics based exercise, chronic pain management, and a myriad of manual therapy techniques including manual lymphatic drainage, myofascial release, and the Graston Technique®. While she enjoys working with patients of all ages and diagnoses, she has a specific passion for working with patients before, during and after their cancer treatment. She also has a focus on sports rehabilitation. Dr. Mitchell is extremely committed to her patients and strives to empower them in reaching their goals of returning to active and healthy lifestyles.
Originally from northern Wisconsin, Dr. Mitchell graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a Bachelor Degree in Biology with a concentration in Women’s Studies. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, and has completed the Klose Training Lymphedema Certification as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Dr. Mitchell has assisted with teaching hands-on techniques to Physical Therapy students at Pacific University working with patients with lymphedema.
Elsa is also passionate about nutrition and has completed specialized training as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association. She finds great joy in helping her clients discover how a nutrient dense whole foods diet can contribute to the body’s natural healing process and provide the foundation for vitality and well-being. Dr. Mitchell is an active individual herself and enjoys yoga, Pilates, hiking, cooking, documentary photography, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She speaks Spanish, beginning Italian and French, and has studied and volunteered in many countries including Ecuador, Turkey, Egypt, India, Thailand, China, and Italy.
